Rating: 1.5 out of 5.

North x Fuerst Wiacek Pale Ale is a collaboration between North Brewing Co. in Leeds, UK and Fuerst Wiacek in Berlin, Germany. It is a 5.5% ABV pale ale that uses an experimental yeast strain to unlock an abundance of new flavours. Along with a grist full of creamy oats, the beer is mashed in with Cascade hops. This method enhances the WHC Lab Hop Unlock yeast’s natural ability to biotransform compounds found in malt and hops to unleash thiols, which are usually achievable by our ordinary brewing techniques.

The result is a pale ale that is bursting with flavour. White gummy bears, grape, honey melon, and passion fruit aromas kick off the beer, followed by a juicy, fruity body. A Whirlpool addition of Yakima Chief’s CRYO POP blend sets a base of a fruit cocktail, while Mosaic, Idaho 7, and Strata hops add a punch of pink grapefruit, orange sorbet, cherry, and fleshy pink guava. The finish is dry and slightly sherbety, with a lingering sweetness.

North x Fuerst Wiacek Pale Ale is a complex and delicious beer that is sure to please fans of hoppy pale ales.
